Musicians Diego Torres and Sie7e rocked the house last night at the Latin GRAMMY Acoustic Sessions.
The event had a crowd of attendees singing and dancing to some highly recognized tunes performed first by Sie7e and later by Torres, who expressed his joy and pride for being invited to sing.
“It’s always beautiful when one’s work is taken into account, so this is a night to enjoy and party,” said Torres, who is nominated for a Latin GRAMMY in Song of the Year for his song Hoy Es Domingo. “I’m very happy to collaborate with the [Latin Recording] Academy and to come and perform a concert in such a beautiful theater.”
The Latin GRAMMY Acoustic Sessions is an invite-only event where members of the music industry, as well as entertainment socialites are welcomed to enjoy an intimate presentation by some of Latin music’s most recognized names.
The private event was also previously hosted in Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, and finally in Miami – with different talents performing in each city.
The New World Center on 500 17th St. in Miami Beach would be the last stop for the event that leads up to the Latin GRAMMYS, airing live on Nov. 19, from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Radio personality, Enrique Santos hosted the Miami session, cheering with the audience for Latinos and speaking of the various accomplishments made by the talents performing that evening.
Puerto Rican singer, Sie7e, who promised to leave his heart and soul on the stage, came in with a mix of Caribbean and reggae-style tunes. Don’t Worry Be Happy, Tocando el Cielo and Le Regalo Una Promesa, were among the songs he performed.
The Latin GRAMMY winner felt that singing for fellow musicians and those in the industry made the performance twice as special.
“These are the people who know what it’s like to grind [hard] in this industry, and I believe that they recognize one’s work a little bit more in these types of settings,” said Sie7e, who quit his advertising job in 2005 and decided to pursue his true passion – music.
Diego Torres made an entrance by sitting on a bench in front of an all-black classic piano, and among dimmed purple lights he performed his song, Guapa, which was followed by other popular ones such as Sueños and Color Esperanza.
“Tonight the audience will listen to songs from yesterday and today,” Torres said, referring to his list of songs for the evening being from his previous albums and his most recent one titled, La Buena Vida – which means the good life. “The good life, refers to the simple yet important things in our lives: showing affection, health, music [and] family.”
The Argentine singer, who recently won a La Musa award at the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame, is also preparing to go on tour through South America and Europe during 2016.
