Every “Sex and the City” fan fantasized at least once about stepping into Carrie Bradshaw’s Manolo Blahniks, and overdramatic, but just as glamorous and couture-filled life, if even just for a day.
Twenty-three years after the premiere of the series, Airbnb is offering fans the chance to live in Carrie’s world – shoes and cosmos included.
In celebration of the soon-to-come premiere of the HBO Max series “And Just Like That,” Airbnb is taking bookings for two, one-night stays at a version of Carrie’s Upper East Side brownstone apartment, with similar decor, a lavishing display of Bradshaw’s iconic closet and the little details – unfortunately no sweaters in the oven – that made us all wonder how in the world a sex columnist lived such as glamorous lifestyle, after all? As a nod to the 23-year anniversary of the series that had viewers following Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha around The Big Apple, the price for the stay will cost guests a total of $23, before taxes – travel not included.
The listing, titled “A Night in Carrie Bradshaw’s New York Apartment” has Sarah Jessica Parker herself appearing as a host. Since Carrie’s original apartment we all saw in the series, was just a production studio set, guests will be staying at a Chelsea apartment that closely mimics what was Carrie’s original brownstone; with those iconic front steps, which are actually located in the West Village. However, Carrie will be paying a visit – virtually.
SJP will greet guests with one of Carrie’s signature intro monologues while showing them around the key elements of the apartment that will take them back to the series: her Carrie necklace on the nightstand, the black cordless phone and her old school laptop sitting right at the very desk where she wrote the many columns about her “unlucky in love” love stories.
The star of the show – not surprisingly – is the spacious walk-in closet overflowing with designer garments, couture and some of Carrie’s signature styles, including the pink tutu we remember from the intro of all 94 episodes.
Booking for this immersive experience opens on November 8 at noon ET. Stays will be available exclusively for November 12 and November 13. Airbnb will not be covering transportation costs to the apartment nor to New York City.
Included is an on-sight concierge, Cosmopolitans for a toast, a photoshoot while wearing some iconic items from Carrie’s closet and brunch in Chelsea, according to Airbnb, “A meal where many conversations took place that deepened Carrie’s friendships with the girls,” because as Carrie always said, “Trends come and go, but friendships never go out of style.”
