Miami Magazine’s ‘Splashion’ At Fillmore With Adam Lambert Performance

Miami Magazine’s “Splashion,” event happened on Tuesday evening at the Fillmore in Miami Beach, as the unofficial kickoff of Swim Week 2015.

Adam Lambert performed, and Miami socialite YesJulz hosted the soirée which included a fashion show by local designers and boutiques.

The party began at 8 p.m. with the VIP cocktail hour, where attendees and designers mingled, took pictures and enjoyed small bites by Tongue & Cheek, candy from Dylan’s Candy Bar, coffee and Brazilian chocolate desserts.

“I’m really excited to see fun patterns and just seeing new faces and people that are here in my city that I’ve never seen before,” said YesJulz, who is known for having an extensive social media following. “I’m really into one-pieces right now. I think less is best in terms of showing off too much. So, cover up a little bit and leave some to the imagination. That’s kind of my vibe right now for the summer.”

The runway show began at 9 p.m. It included various one piece swimsuits with straps sewn into geometric shapes, along with regular two piece bikinis. There were countless options of colors and patterns; floral, striped, laced, animal print and meshed fabrics were all seen numerous times.

Many styles were accompanied by kaftans and kimono-style cover ups, in colors like turquoise, hot pink, bright yellows and different shades of green, decorated in sequins and sewn-on beads. Many models hit the catwalk while wearing exotic flower crowns and head pieces as well.

Pintarena Swimwear added neon colorblocked “mochilas” [Colombian hand-sewn bags] to their swimwear accessories. Their objective for this line was using mesh fabric, to create swimwuits that provided little coverage.

“We’ve always grown up around cities from the beaches, and our inspirations come from Miami and Colombia,” said the designer for Pintarena, who preferred to not have her name not mentioned. “We used mochilas because when we went to Colombia, and we saw the colors, the prints, the way they are woven, and it’s something that has always inspired us.”

Other designers and boutiques showcasing their swimsuits and clothing included Laundry by Shelli Segal, Jantzen, Kareena’s, La Martina, My Best Friend’s Closet and K8 Swimwear.

The fashion show followed with Adam Lambert’s performance, where he sang his new song “Ghost Town.” The singer gave a routine of new and old songs as he indulged the screaming crowd of fans. People were dancing, pushing and yelling out for the former American Idol runnerup’s attention. Some even fought for spots closer to the stage.

The event ended at 11 p.m. and followed with a cocktail afterparty at the Delano Hotel.
